 The Uniform Patrol Division provides the foundation for all law enforcement efforts of the Anderson Sheriff's Office. The dedicated and highly motivated men and women assigned to the division perform the most visible and recognizable functions of the Sheriff's Office. In answering calls for service and patrolling the 777 square miles of Anderson County, the Uniform Patrol Deputy's primary duty is to conduct preliminary investigations, maintain order within the community through the enforcement of state and local laws and to conduct preventative patrols while developing positive community relations.
The Uniform Patrol Division is the largest division in the Sheriff's Office with a total of seventy-nine sworn officers assigned to the division. Seventy-six officers are assigned to one of four platoons (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie,' and Delta). Each platoon of sixteen deputies is supervised by a Lieutenant and two Sergeants for a total of nineteen deputies. Also assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division is a deputy that is posted exclusively at the front desk of the Law Enforcement Center. This deputy's primary duty is to handle certain complains by telephone that does not require a deputy's on scene response and to handle "walk-in" complaints. The division also includes one Corporal that assists in the supervision of deputies assigned to patrol the town of Pendleton. The Uniform Patrol Captain collectively supervises the division.
In an effort to provide efficient service to the citizens of Anderson County, the county is divided into six different patrol zones. During a twelve-hour tour of duty, a deputy is assigned to one of the zones to patrol. Platoon supervisors constantly assess call volumes and manage available resources to ensure that response times to call for service are held to a minimum and to ensure that problem areas receive increased law enforcement presence. |
